The Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan strongly condemns recent statement of Ahmad Zia Saraj, the Director of the National Directorate of Security of Afghanistan, who said that "IRPT fighters" are present in Afghanistan, and considers this statement irresponsible and far from reality.
The IRPT has repeatedly stated and continues to state that it has no military units in any country, including neighbouring and friend country Afghanistan, and will continue its struggle in peaceful and non-violent ways.
After Tajikistan's authoritarian government declared the IRPT a terrorist organization in 2015 using fabricated accusations and banned it for politically motivated reasons, it has attempted to persuade countries in the region, as well as international and regional organizations, to recognize the IRPT as a terrorist organization, but failed. However, this time, following multiple visits of Tajik security authorities to Kabul, this allegation came from a senior Afghan official, which is concerning.
We hope that the Government of Afghanistan, as a guarantor of Peace and National Accord in Tajikistan, will maintain its constructive position and will not be a tool for propaganda of the peace-violating party. The Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan is prepared to discuss and cooperate with the authorities of Afghanistan on any issue.
We reiterate that the IRPT has no military units present in Afghanistan or in any other country in the world, and will continue to struggle for the establishment of a democratic, free and law-abiding government in Tajikistan in peaceful and non-violent ways.
